Residences at Cabot Cliffs

Four modular home designs inspired by Nova Scotia’s classical, gabled roofs and designed by FBM will soon comprise ‘The Residences at Cabot Cliffs.’ The Cape Breton golf resort, which already boasts award-winning architecture, announced the luxury real estate venute in late 2019.

“The buildings have an authentic material palette for this rugged Atlantic Canadian landscape,” says project architect, Susan Fitzgerald.

Detached gabled sleeping quarters arranged around a central living space and connected by enclosed thoroughfares separate public and private living within a discrete community of eight homes that overlooks part of the links. Gabled components are rotated and reconfigured to create a diverse array of floor plans and massing for unique and cost-effective modular design.

Expansive glazing and sliding doors open up to refreshing ocean breezes and intimate patios and courtyards framed by the gabled pavilions. Elegant cedar shingle façades, locally sourced-brick fireplaces, and open living spaces give the homes a contemporary, but timeless edge.

“The modern vernacular aesthetic of these homes underscores the idea that a large house can still feel like an airy seaside cottage.”
