Harvey Freeman

With over 45 years experience, Harvey is an architect and a building envelope expert. Originally from Middleton, Nova Scotia he completed his studies in architecture at the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1970 (B.Arch). He is a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Architects and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

Harvey has been responsible for overseeing the firm's envelope detailing and roofing inspections since 1975. He is a construction industry leader in this field and often brought in as a forensic expert on projects. He has developed a specialty area within the practice concentrating on roofing, masonry wall construction, and foundation waterproofing. His repeat clients include: Department of National Defence, Halifax Regional School Board, Halifax Regional Municipality, and many nursing homes and hospitals. Acting as a mentor to the entire office, Harvey brings his unique expertise to all of FBM’s projects. A local history enthusiast, Harvey is also a frequent lecturer in the Continuing Education Department of Dalhousie University in their Technical Lecture series. He has made numerous presentations regarding a designer’s perspective on the selection of an optimal roofing design. He has also written regularly for the Contractor’s Desk, a publication on building technology out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
