Dwayne joined FBM in 2015. He completed his studies in architecture at Dalhousie University in 1996 following undergraduate studies at Acadia University. Before returning to Halifax in 2009 he worked for practices in Montreal, Amsterdam, New York City and Maine
He has worked on a wide variety of project types ranging from high end and multi unit residential to institutional, commercial, recreational, medical and laboratory projects. This range of experience has aided him in developing a skill set that allows him to recognize the overall complexity of a project and also pay attention to the details. His talents have been applied to the master planning and execution of large multi phased projects as well as to the highly customized detail that high-end residential work demands.
He has worked on LEED projects both here in Nova Scotia as well as in the US. He was a member of the design team to realize one of the very first LEED certified clinical buildings in the US.
He is a competent and dedicated project architect with a strong design sense as well as keen collaborative and problem solving skills. Through the years these talents have helped him to develop strong, collaborative relationships with clients and consultants and have also proven effective in the communication and cooperation with the contractor and trades during construction administration.
He has played a leadership role on multiple projects requiring the coordination of numerous consultants. Throughout his career he has always enjoyed the collaborative process between the members of the design team. Playing a leadership role has taught him the importance of recognizing the talents of the various team members on a project and encouraging those talented individuals to produce the best results.
