Partnership of FBM, EllisDon and Parkin Architects has Qualified to Bid on Halifax Infirmary Expansion

FBM is proud to be a part of the EllisDon Team, which also includes Parkin Architects., recently selected as one of the two companies to qualify to bid on the Halifax Infirmary Expansion.

As outlined in a media release by the Nova Scotia government, our team will bid on the, "public-private-partnership project, which includes designing, building, financing and maintaining the expansion of the Infirmary site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre." The project will facilitate services being moved out of the current Centennial and Victoria buildings on the Victoria General site, with the long-term goal being to close both buildings.

The expansion of the Halifax Infirmary includes a new QEII Cancer Centre, outpatient centre, an expanded inpatient centre (hospital beds and operating rooms) and a new innovation and learning centre.

FBM emphasized our commitment to focusing on health care infrastructure with the hiring of respected architect Dennis Ramsay in 2018.

At the time of his joining FBM, Ramsay noted that the province is facing significant pressure to replace aging infrastructure with more innovative, accessible and sustainable features.

The expansion of the Halifax Infirmary provides an ideal opportunity for Nova Scotia to showcase how its design, strategic planning and health care expertise can join together to create a world-class facility.

Technical submissions for the project are due in November 2020, with final financial submissions due in December 2020.
